Heima Art Residency is an independent nonprofit organisation founded in 2013. Heima is located in Seyðisfjörður, a thriving port that is home to just 650 people and yet manages to support an art school, a cinema, a theatre, restaurants/bars, two artist residencies and the Dieter Roth Academy.

Brief description of residency program
Heima is a multidisciplinary art residency for emerging and established artists located in Seyðisfjörður East Iceland. The physical space is a 350 square meter combined house and studio/exhibition space.

We encourage applications from a wide range of artists of different cultural and geographic backgrounds. We are open for applications for all phases - from initial research to finishing works.
Heima Art Residency holds a dynamic structure that changes from year to year.
In 2017 Heima will offer three residency periods, each involving six artist carefully curated. The program offers completely free access to Heimas facilities for fifty days.
The three residency periods are:
A. Dates ------> 10.04.17 - 30.05.17
B. Dates ------> 06.06.17 - 26.07.17
C. Dates ------> 01.08.17 - 21.09.17
Residency fee is 150.000 ISK.
The residency fee is to be paid in advance and is non-refundable.
Residents must provide for their own food, travel, and miscellaneous expenses.
In addition to our residency open call, on occasion we will announce additional special initiatives.

How to reach
If you arrive from abroad you will have to fly to Reykjavik ( Keflavik Airport ).
From Keflavik Airport you will have to take a bus to the Domestic Airport which is located in the city of Reykjavik. The bus ride is 45 minutes. The Airport shuttle busses departs from Keflavik Airport 35-40 minutes after every flight arrival and will take you to the domestic airport.
From the domestic Airport in Reykjavik you will have to fly to Egilsstaðir Airport (1 hour flight). From Egilsstaðir Airport you will have to take the bus to Seyðisfjörður (30 minutes bus ride).
If you arrive in Egilsstaðir outside regular Bus hour, we would love to come and pick you up.

Whether you drive south or north the trip from Reykjavik to Seyðisfjörður is approximately a ten hour drive. For this option you can either go with a bus or you can rent a car.
