Artist in Residence | Ark Project 2018

Ark Project International: Work and exhibit during the annual Summer 2018 event in July.

The Ark Project is pleased to offer 1 artist the opportunity to work and exhibit art works during the Annual Summer (July) 2018 exhibition. The idea is to enable artists to collaborate and work towards a common goal. The end-product or completion of projects is not required, however, works in progress may be on view during the exhibition. Field trips, studio visits, and exhibition opportunities will allow access to the art market. We can further offer the services of a mentor (resident artist) and or a professional creativity coach to accompany the creative process.

The Goal
The Ark Project is an annual international artist residency program realized in 2016 with a focus on creation, presentation, and documentation of contemporary art that engages discovery, transformation and innovation. The Ark Project encourages the exploration of non-representational art through multimedia, conceptual, ecological, and interdisciplinary approaches. The vision for the Ark Project is centered around the co-creation process with intention to break open one's artistic practice to a new level and create new work that the artist may not otherwise create outside the residency. Each year one artist is invited into the collective for an evolving curatorial project.

The Location
Each year the location of the studio and exhibition space travels from city to city across the globe. This year the Ark Project will be hosted by CAS - Casa de Artes Sustentáveis located in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil!

CAS offers residences, consisting of workshops, shows and events. The House serves as a form of cultural and intellectual exchange, to encourage new collaborations and productions.

Salvador is a vibrant port town and the capital of the state of Bahia in north-eastern Brazil. The beautiful promenade of Salvador with its capoeira dancers and street musicians gives a perfect example of the colourful and cheerful disposition of the Brazilian people and their immense artistic achievement. These qualities are evident in the city’s flourishing art scene.
