Description of residency
Elsewhere Studios Residency Program in Paonia, Colorado,USA provides space and time for artists to create in a unique and supportive environment. Paonia, located on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains, about 1.5 hours from Grand Junction, is nestled in a beautiful landscape of mountains and mesas covered with orchards, small ranches, and farms. Elsewhere is a ‘choose your own adventure’! Situated in ‘downtown’ Paonia, the spaces are versatile, providing residents with opportunities to connect and interact with other artists in the community, to create or participate in art exhibitions, and to teach classes or workshops ...or just time to focus on your work.

Duration of residency
Time spans are based on individual artist's request – 1 to 6 months (in calendar months beginning on the 1st).

Studio/ workspace
The studio space on the Main Floor is shared by the residents in the Loft Room and Gingerbread House .The Suite and Basement Apartment is living and studio space combined. There is a small woodworking shop on the property with table saw, chop saw and a variety of power and hand tools available for artist use. There are performing art spaces available in Paonia that can be contracted for dance and theater as well as a fully equipped ceramic studio.

Fees and support
Residency fees are $600 to $850 per month which covers living and studio space, WiFi, and utilities. The residency fees are subsidized. They cover only about a quarter of Elsewhere Studios´ residency cost.

We ask artists to post at least once on our blog. Optional opportunities for artists to teach workshops, give presentations,etc. Weekly Group House Cleaning. Seasonal snow shoveling, plant & garden watering, option to participate in monthly “work party” doing house & yard projects with Elsewhere founders, volunteers & board members, as well as potential contribution utilizing your skills for special projects.

November 7th is the deadline for residencies beginning January through August 2018. One to six month-long residencies available upon artist's request.

Description of residency program
Elsewhere Studios is an artist residency program in Paonia CO, hosting artists from around the world to have time and space to focus on their work in a unique and supportive environment. Elsewhere is a choose-your-own-adventure style residency, providing residents with the opportunity to connect with the community... or just time to focus on work.

Elsewhere exists in the heart of the small town of Paonia, Colorado, located at the base of Lamborn Mountain in the West Elks on the western slope of the Rockies - west of Delta, and about 1.5 hours from Grand Junction. The town itself has a population of 1500, but the surrounding mesas hold another 5000. It is surrounded by orchards, farms, and vineyards.

Open Call Deadline: July 7th for Winter 2019 residencies beginning between January 2019 and April 2019.

Duration of residency
Time spans are individually based - 1 to 6 months, accommodating 4 to 6 artists at a time.

We welcome visual artists, writers, composer/musicians, performance artists at any stage of their careers as well as scientists, activists, teachers, students, or any kind of creative thinker interested in exploring and expanding their work in a supportive environment.

All rooms and spaces in the main house have radiant in-floor heat. There is also a large wood stove in living room of house as a supplemental heat/cooking system.

We have a washer and dryer for resident use. Residents are responsible for their own meals. The fully equipped main floor kitchen is shared by Suite, Loft Room, and Gingerbread House residents. Grocery store, banks , library, theater, pubs, post office, etc.  are easy walking distance from Elsewhere. Elsewhere also has bicycles available for residents' use.

Studio/ workspace
The studio space on the Main Floor is shared by the residents in the Loft Room and Gingerbread House .TheSuite (top floor) is living and studio space combined.  The Basement Apartment is also living and studio space combined. There is a small woodworking shop on the property with table saw, chop saw, and a variety of power and hand tools available for artist use. There are performing art spaces available in Paonia that can be contracted for dance and theater. There is also an off-site ceramics co-op for residents to use for an additonal fee. Elsewhere has an Epson 3880 Professional Ink Jet Printer, our local branch library has an Epson Artisan 1430 Printer & and Epson Perfection V600 Photoscanner as well as GoPro Camera's (for checkout). Our local branch library has a MAC Computer associated with the equipment listed above & they have some software, too, including the Adobe Creative Suite.

Expectations towards the artist
Elsewhere is a choose-your-own-adventure style residency. Situated in downtown Paonia, the spaces are versatile, providing residents with opportunities to connect and interact with other artists in the community, to create or participate in art exhibitions, and to teach classes or workshops. Residents are expected to participate in two events per month: a "Meet-n-Greet" at the beginning of the month to introduce themselves and their work to the community, as well as an "Open Studio" at the end of the month as part of Final Friday Artwalk. Artists are also expected to keep a clean workspace and common area as well as posting at least one blog post to the website during their stay.

Application information
Elsewhere has three deadlines per year: March 7th for residencies beginning in the months of September to December, July 7th for residencies beginning in the months of January to April, and November 7th for residencies beginning in the months of May to August. Application fee of $30.
