Open Call for SUMMER RESIDENCY ___

Description of residency program
Can Serrat meant to support artistic and writing production, and to offer a working & living space for each resident.

Fees and support
Each jury (per each modality) selects 20 proposals per each open call to be part of the residency program. Within this 20 invitations, one is a full grant, one is a 70% stipend, one is a 50% stipend, one is a 30% stipend, 16 are self-funded invitations (the residency expects the applicant to come with an outside funding). In addition and after publishing result, Can Serrat offers 5 supplementary 30% stipends* to be eligible to depending on distance and income criteria.

Disciplines, work equipment and assistance
Can Serrat International Art Residency opens its summer call with 2 different modalities

a) VISUAL/SOUND ART modality >>>
Required documentation:

  • One PDF file named: "name_canserrat_Acall_Summer"

  • This file must contain:

    • Artist statement
    • Recent work (webpage)
    • CV/ Biography

b) WRITING modality >>>
Required documentation:

  • One PDF file named: "name_canserrat_Wcall_Summer"

  • This file must contain:

    • Writing statement (Can Serrat expects from the applicant to give the jury an understanding of her/his process of work, and informations about her/his actual field of research)
    • 3 pages recent work sample (max.) 
    • a soundtrack of the 3 pages sample (or less) sent, read by the applicant her.him.self or any other form judged relevant for the jury to understand the work better (accessible with a link in the pdf application)
    • CV/ Biography
  • The language of application may be in Catalan (only for writing project modality), Spanish or English. Other languages won't be accepted.

Duration of residency
Residence time for the applicants selected :

  • Self funded invitations: June-September 2019

  • Partial grants: June-September 2020

  • full grant: July-August 2020 (visual/sound art) August-September 2020 (writing project)

RESIDENCY CONDITIONS

  • A private or shared room during the residency (depending on option chosen)

  • Shared working space during the residency.

  • Access to shared spaces (kitchen, toilets, bathrooms, etc.).

  • Food (half-board)

  • Access to all equipment (printmaking studio, sound recording equipment, projectors)

  • Possibility to organize workshop/debate in the residency

  • Promotion through social media

  • Human and technical resources

  • Access to El Bruc's Council exhibition space to organize a show at the end of the residency

  • Connections with the local cultural scene

[The grants do not include travel expenses.]

Result announcement: February 21st, 2019.
