White House Studio Residency in Old Goulburn

Travel to local painting spots with your host to work en plein air.

The residency program is designed to accommodate practicing mature artists who desire a change of pace and new inspiration for their work. Work in the landscape within walking distance from the White House and take part in day outings farther afield to engage with the rural and bush landscapes around Goulburn. Catch a train to Sydney or Canberra for the day to view galleries and experience the culture.

Residency period from 1 week to 1 month. Open calls from 1 September 2019.

The studio is equipped with a large etching press suitable for water based inks which can be provided. Tuition is available if requested. Accommodation is on ground level and the art studio is on the second floor. There is a library of art books, easels and drawing tables. The residency is suited to painters, drawers and printmakers. Only waterbased materials can be used in the studio.

Accommodation is in a renovated 3 bedroom cottage in the old centre of Goulburn. You will be residing with your host and another artist. One bedroom has a comfortable queen length double bed, heating, a fan and a desk. The other bedroom has a king single, heating, a fan and a desk. The living areas are comfortable and filled with art. The art studio is upstairs. There are no expectation towards the artist but there may be the possibility of showing your work if you would like to do so.
