Haihatus Residency 2013
Haihatus residency provides a space for creation and encourages communication between arts.
The Haihatus Art Center began its residency programme in 2012.
The purpose of this residency is to provide a space for creation, encourage exchange between artists and different artistic disciplines.
Residencies will be awarded to artists from all disciplines, for one month or longer periods. There are no restrictions on the nationality of the applicants.
The rent 550 euros/month includes a room for accomodation, space for work or practice water and electricity.
There are 6 rooms (17 – 23m2) located on the upper floor of the Utopia House and each has its own small kitchen. Toilets and showers are located in common spaces. The work/training spaces are located on the lower level of the same building each measuring from 10 - 60m2.
There are also space for performance, exhibitions, hanging out, a sauna etc. Various kinds of spaces are also available in the Haihatus building, which is located on the same lot. Travel costs and other personal expenses are paid by the artist themselves. Haihatus is situated in Joutsa, a small Community in Central Finland by highway 4 (E75). The distance from Helsinki to Joutsa is 200 km and there are daily express coach services.
The distance from Jyväskylä to Joutsa is 70 km and from Lahti to Joutsa 100 km. Joutsa center is a picturesque rural village, like a tiny town with super-markets, shops, restaurants and cafés. In leisure time there are good possibilities for jogging, skiing, swimming and rowing by boat etc.
