2013 Res Artis Awards at Videobrasil, Sao Paulo, Brazil

The third edition of the Res Artis Awards took place during the 18th edition of the Associação Cultural Videobrasil Contemporary Art Festival. The highlight to celebrate was three decades of experimentation and risk assumed since 1983, when the Festival was initiated.

This Festival is one of the main Brazilian events dedicated to artistic production from the geopolitical South (Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Middle East, Eastern Europe, South and Southeast Asia and Oceania), and a great opportunity to meet with other members and colleagues from within our network.

It was in this context that we presented the 2013 Res Artis Awards to directly support the mobility of artists.

There were nine award winners at the festival. Two of the artists received Res Artis Awards. Laura Huertas Millan (Colombia) was awarded a residency at Arquetopia by its director Francisco Guevera and the other award was presented by Ika Sienkiewicz, chief curator of a-i-r laboratory, Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle, to Ali Cherri (Lebanon).
