Nelimarkka Residence / Museum

General information

Brief description of organisation

Nelimarkka Museum, the Regional Art Museum of Southern Ostrobothnia, Finland, was founded in 1964 by artist-professor Eero Nelimarkka.

Its main focus is on art education, but the museum is also responsible for research of Ostrobothnian art and has hosted an artist-in-residency program since mid 1980´s.

The Residency carries out Eero Nelimarkka’s long-term dream of having fine art in the countryside. Circa 10 artists live and work at the residency annually.

Nelimarkka Residency is looking for artists on all fields of visual arts.

A residency includes the use of a studio, shared common areas, and a private bedroom. The museum provides for internet access, television, kitchen utensils, towels, bedding and linens with an access to a laundry room and a bicycle to go around area. The town and closest shops are 4 kilometers from the residency house.

The artist pays for their own material, living and travel expenses. A residency period is usually 1-3 months.
