Milkwood Artist Residence

General information

Brief description of organisation

With a fully equipped apartment, Milkwood Artist Residence provides an opportunity for artists and scholars to concentrate on their work, meet local artists and explore the historic and natural sites of the region. Residents of Milkwood find themselves vitalized by the idyllic, village environment and the strong contemporary community of Czech artists who have made their home in Cesky Krumlov. The location provides excellent opportunities for day trips to Prague, Vienna, Linz or other South Bohemian towns.

In addition to the accommodations, residents may request assistance with retaining local studio, exhibition or performance space. Milkwood maintains a network of local artists and arts organizations that can provide visitors additional venues as well as greater social integration into the local culture. The residence application form provides room for additional requests.

On occasion, Milkwood hosts educational and cultural programs that utilize the residence. To help support its programming, it also accepts non-resident guests at short-term rates. No programming or guest accommodations, however, are scheduled when artists are in residence, and residence scheduling takes precedence over other activities.
