Spark Box Studio is a place for artists to live, research, investigate and experiment. We aim to encourage discovery and the cultivation of new ideas, provide career-building opportunities for artists at all stages, and to engage with the community through the arts.

Brief description of residency program

Spark Box Studio’s Artist Residency Program provides live/work space to accommodate both emerging and professional printmakers, photographers, painters, illustrators and writers.

Artists-in-residence have access to our professional studio and resources. The Residency Program affords artists the space and time to support the advancement of their careers and to strengthen their practice. Our program also offers a variety of career building opportunities for artists including our Emerging Artist Guide, opportunities for business workshops with local professionals and consultations with local artists and curators.

Grants available

Spark Box Studio offers free residencies to Ontario fine art students and emerging artists. This residency opportunity is a unique way for young and emerging artists to cultivate new ideas, access a rich library of arts resources, learn about career-building opportunities, and develop an understanding of the art world from a business perspective. About the Award Six emerging artists will receive a one-week residency in Prince Edward County. The selected applicants will be able to work in the studio using Spark Box Studio’s equipment and resources, and have access to career guidance from local community members. Spark Box Studio has created these awards as a career building opportunity for young emerging artists. Spark Box Studio also offers a National Residency Award to artists living and working in Canada: one full month at the Spark Box Studio Residency where you will be given a studio space and living space for FREE. In addition this artist is offered a $1,000 Bursary. This residency opportunity is a unique way for established and emerging artists to cultivate new ideas, access a rich library of arts resources, and focus on their career. ABOUT THE AWARD One artist will receive a month-long residency at our studio in Prince Edward County. The selected applicant will be granted a semi-private studio space and given access to the Spark Box Studio equipment and resources, as well, the winner will be provided with living accommodations for their month-long stay and $1,000 Dawson Bursary.
