Elsewhere Studios

General information

Brief description of organisation

We are a small group of individuals who believe strongly in the importance of the arts as an enriching and transformative force in the lives of individuals and communities, and essential to full development as human beings.
Elsewhere Studios is an incubator of innovative arts related activities that radiate out into the community. Since its birth in 2006, Elsewhere Studios has been a hub of community activity. Many local artisans and craftsmen have participated in its design and construction, putting in thousands of hours of donated labor and time. Much of the renovation work has been done with salvaged and recycled materials. Even before completion, Elsewhere has provided space and inspiration for many community art activities and events: Art classes for adults and kids, Space and time for resident artists to create,Friday “art nights” – open studio time for locals to create art, Final Friday Art Walks in which many local artists have been featured. Elsewhere has also sponsored events such as the Aspen Blues Recess, a micro blues dance event.

Situated in ‘downtown’ Paonia, the spaces are versatile, providing residents with opportunities to connect and interact with other artists in the community, to create or participate in art exhibitions, and to teach classes or workshops . . .or just time to focus on your work.
