Brief description of residency program

RURART contemporary art in rural area / art contemporain en milieu rural is an artistic residency following the mission to reconnect people to nature and agriculture via the medium of arts.
RURART takes place on a pioneer farm in organic agriculture in the Eastern-Townships of Quebec, Canada. Other then agriculture, many activities are going on the farm such as; cottages rentals, kindergarten, artistic events, exhibitions and workshops.
The idea behind RURART is to bring art outside of its traditional structures, to invite artists to go beyond their level of comfort and explore the many possibilities that rural environment has to offer.
RURART offers two programs:
PER - Production in residency - a collective and directed experience which takes place each season at specific dates and;
RER – Research in residency – an autonomous experience which takes place from April to October.
At the end of the residency, RURART will organize an event for the artists to showcase their work to the public in a natural environment, in a place which has inspired them. RURART will welcome between 5 to 7 artists at a time. The artists are able to choose whether they want to stay in the dormitory ($), stay in a private cottage ($$$), or stay in a cabin in the woods ($$), all which are located on the farm.
Open Space and CNV rules are at the base of RURART´s structure.
