Kirsten Kjaers Museum

General information

Brief description of organisation

We are a non-profit association located in Denmark aiming to generate artistic projects in relation to the nature surrounding us.
We carry out residencies, workshops, art classes, 2 annual music festivals and music master classes.
Our property is spacious and surrounded by rustic parkland. In a domain of 40 hectares with forests, meadows and heather KKM is hidden away in the countryside for optimal inspiration.
We have created different residency frameworks for you to choose from – depending on what you wish to achieve while spending time in this strong natural surrounding.

Brief description of residency program

The residency program is located in a private art museum, with a large collection of drawings and paintings by Kirsten Kjær (1893-1985).
Side galleries host changing exhibitions of contemporary, national and international artists, also for those using the museum´s workshops. The museum also arranges about 30 classical concerts per year, together with other musical events.
KKM offers flexible studio facilities, creative dialogue, a refreshing amount of open space for artists to work together or individually in a supportive atmosphere.
KKM wants to emphasize discovery and process, as opposed to rules and regulations. We stay as flexible as possible in order to allow enough freedom for expansion. There is a seasonal flow of activity, with the winter being very quiet and the summer vibrant with activity, but you can always expect the unexpected.
Facilities include a graphic print workshop, a bronze foundry, ceramic kilns, welding equipment, open studios, exhibition rooms. Our concert hall is suitable both for concerts (can host 160 persons) and recordings. We have 4 grand pianos spread over the facilities.

Duration of residencies max 3 months. Number of artists resident is up to 10 at a time or we are able to host groups of larger numbers.
