Brief description of residency program

PINEA A.I.R. & DUPLO A.I.R. are initiatives run by the private non-profit organization LINEA DE COSTA in Southern Andalusia. With a seven years trajectory, our organization has become a reference between international artists-in-residence programs in Europe. PINEA A.I.R & DUPLO A.I.R. are reputed and independent programs in Spain, guaranteed by critics, artists and specialized press.

PINEA is an A.I.R. program situated in Cadiz Bay, strategically located in Rota Town historic center and close to natural spaces such as beaches, pine forests and, dunes. It is not only studios to work. It is much more than this: It is an A.I.R program for artistic researches, productions, and exhibitions. It is an opportunity for artists working in site-specific projects whose aim is to dynamically contribute to improving the town, and seeking to foster cross-cultural relations between artists in residence and the locals, by involving the territory in an active way. Our knowledge of the local scene makes the stay a key experience in their creative process. Our line of work is based on selecting artists coming from different places and creative fields who want to come to PINEA A.I.R. to develop specific projects having into account the context in which they will act, in an exchange of experiences and artistic and cultural increasing climate.

DUPLO is an A.I.R. situated in the heart of the Three-Millenary historical town of Cadiz, and close to beaches, museums, libraries, shops, etc. DUPLO is a self-directed program and welcomes artists from all over the world to come and spend some time in our space and its surroundings. Our aim is to provide breathing space away from the obligations and routines of everyday life. It offers you to be in a calm environment enabling you to immerse yourself in your vocation and concentrate, research, experiment or simply clear your mind. Producing artwork or a final product is a possibility, but not at all a requirement.
