Brief description of residency program

PINEA A.I.R. is an initiative run by the private non-profit organisation LINEA DE COSTA.

With a seven years trajectory, up to now, the residency program has engaged more than 200 international artists. In this sense, our organization has become a reference between international artists-in-residence programs in Europe. PINEA A.I.R is a reputed and independent program in Spain, guaranteed by critics, artists and specialized press.

PINEA A.I.R. is a program situated in Cadiz Bay, strategically located in Rota Town and close to natural spaces such as beaches, pine forests, and dunes.

It\'s not only studios to work. It\'s much more than this: It\'s an A.I.R. program for artistic researches, productions, and exhibitions. It\'s an opportunity for artists working in site-specific projects whose aim is to dynamically contribute to improving the town, and seeking to foster cross-cultural relations between artists in residence and the territory. Our knowledge of the local scene makes the stay a key experience in their creative process.

Our line of work is based on selecting artists coming from different places and creative fields who want to come to PINEA A.I.R. to develop specific projects having into account the context in which they will act, in an exchange of experiences and artistic and cultural increasing climate. The team keeps periodically in touch with residents, giving them advice & practical tips.
PINEA A.I.R. can welcome up to four artists at our studios at the same time, and we are equipped with four studio-rooms, Wireless Internet Connection, and shared kitchen & bathroom.

PINEA-LINEA DE COSTA ARTISTS STUDIOS & GALLERY are located in two venues, very close together: 15 minutes by walk.

The studios are strategically located between the town historic center and the local natural spaces such as beaches and dunes. We can accommodate up to four artists, and our studios are equipped with four individual studio-rooms, equipped kitchen & bathroom as well as Wireless Internet Connection

The 212 square meters Gallery (+terrace in the summer period) is an equipped exhibition space located in a historical building in the downtown, where is the emblematic Torre de la Merced.

In PINEA A.I.R. are welcome artists of any nationality and discipline which belongs to contemporary creation. Projects must be developed in one month (calendar months). All artists admitted by PINEA A.I.R. do it as a \'Linea de Costa friend membership\'. Artist will get this status after the correspondent membership dues had been paid.

Lodging: We offer to artists in residence the possibility to live in the studios, which are provided with single cosy bed-chairs in single resting areas. The accommodation is not a rental, but a free courtesy for artists in residence memberships. However, artists can opt to rent an accommodation in a different location (for example if they don\'t want to live and work in the same space or if they want to be accompanied by friends or relatives). Anyway, in both cases, the artist membership dues are the same.

Please note that PINEA A.I.R. does not have governmental support, it is not within its possibilities to offer grants at this moment. Artists are encouraged to apply for independent sponsors and we will provide invitation letters and guidance to cooperate with artists\' necessary fundraising and any other documentation needed.

PINEA A.I.R. & LINEA DE COSTA is a cultural project self-financed by subscription, through membership dues. All of our income is used to achieve our goals.
