Brief description of residency program

AiR Skövde is a residency program hosted by Skovde Art Museum for international artists founded in 2014 located in West Sweden.

AiRS is based on dialogue between the artist and society, where the museum is an integral part. We look for artists to the residency that sees art as a cummunicative practice. It is a residency for artists working with participatory, engaged, and critical practices.

AiR Skövde is semi directed residency, 2014-2019 the program investigates ”boundaries” in and between different societies, locally and/or internationally. Suggested themes are, but not limited to; migration, democracy, voice, ownership etc. We encourage work with attempt of claiming or having a critical stance to sites in public or semi public spaces.

AiRS cover travell costs, accommodation, a grant and a limited project budget.

The program was founded in 2014. Each year a new focus area is selected.

As a preamble to the residency we were part of a four city mural arts project, Mural 2012, working with community murals where local artists worked together with four artists from Mexico.
