Brief description of organisation

SEA Foundation is a not-for-profit, artist-led organization, located in the city centre of Tilburg. We present an international programme of contemporary art and multi-disciplinary events. SEA Foundation offers hospitality in art and operates as an alternative model of working, in which artists can think, debate and make, without defined outcomes and in response to individual needs.from 2013 we also run an Artist in Residence programme.

AiR Tilburg Netherlands
Every year, the residency programme facilitates up to 8 local, national, and international artists, curators / writers at all stages of their careers. Residents reap the benefits from good facilities, a fantastic studio space and a comfortable double room with private bathroom. There is a well-stocked library and a shared garden, kitchen and dining area. The studios are secure and accessible 24/7, have excellent natural light and are set in a lush town garden, offering seclusion and tranquility.

Artist, curator, writer
The residencies are dedicated to experimentation and the development of artistic practice. We offer artists, curators and writers the time to think, reflect on their practice, to produce new works and work with local and international peers.

General information - accommodation:
AiR Tilburg Netherlands resides together with SEA Foundation at Gust van Dijk’s Home to contemporary Art. He commissioned the Amsterdam School style building in 1933-1936 for his own use, as he needed a change, both for his business and in his personal life. Gust van Dijk’s former shop-house now – after extensive renovations – is a hub of artistic activity and comprises 2 live/work studios (for single or double occupancy) each with a private bathroom and high end studio-working facilities, a gallery and local artist’s quarters. Apart from resident’s studios there are common rooms like the kitchen, the salon, the dining room, the gallery, the garden and an another two guestbedrooms with facilities en-suite. Therefore, AiR Tilburg Netherlands, can accommodated up to 8 people at once. And if diary permits it can be made suitable for a group practice.
