Brief description of organisation

Valóság Cooperative

Valóság Cooperative is a finnish-based non-profit organization founded in 2015. Besides Casa do Careca artist-in-residence program Valóság Cooperative governs also another residence located in Budapest, Hungary. The residence has been operating since 2011 and enjoys a somewhat cult status amongst finnish artists.

Who are we?

Valósag Cooperative consists of 8 people, half of us are artists and half of us are involved with culture in some other ways. The people involved have a special relationship with Hungary and Brazil and through our work we have established even more tighter connections to the mentioned countries.

Our goal has been since 2015 to promote cultural exchange, political awareness and artistry. We believe that the arts take on political as well social dimensions, becoming themselves a focus of controversy and even a force of political as well as social change. A good example of this is NGO called AfroReggae in Rio de Janeiro where the program has influenced positively to hundreds of former gang members through musical and cultural projects. We aspire to work in the same line of cultural work in Brazil in the near future.
