Brief description of organisation

The Port de Grave Peninsula on Newfoundland´s east coast is a one-hour drive from the Provincial capital, St. John´s.

Sharon and her family have long been supporters of the local arts community. Her mother Florence was born in Bareneed and helped her parents who owned and operated the community´s general store. Florence was an early art collector when Newfoundland was just Canada´s newest province.

Barened is just one spot among many along the Avalon Northwest of Newfoundland that have inspired local artists and those from away. While the weather is unpredictable, even in summer, you can be sure of the wind.

Now the General Store has been transformed into 2 studio spaces separated by a common living room kitchen and bathroom. Each studio space has a wash up sink and a loft bedroom with a queen or double size bed.

There is room for messy work as well in the basement, which is accessible by ladder in the larger North Studio
