Brief description of residency program

Annex:art was originally founded in 2004 in Berlin-Friedrichshain as Artline-Berlin, a project of the former Gallery24 International which operated exhibition spaces in Berlin, Paris and New York. The program continues to offer artists the opportunity to exercise their creative talents outside the confines of their base studio environment. In order to facilitate achieving this goal a comprehensive series of programs has been established with focus on allowing the artist the freedom to structure a residency or to participate in a workshop that best suites his/her personal goals.

In addition to individual residencies, Annex:art coordinates international artist workshops throughout the year at various participating venues. Each workshop provides artists with the opportunity to delve into a particular theme related program with expertise guidance from an artist facilitator. These workshops will generally be limited to 8 participants and are intended not only to enable the artist to discover and experiment with techniques outside his/her own realm of artistry, but encourage the artist to develop the procedures further in order to incorporate them into their own bodies of work.
With the opening of

Annex:art - New Mexico: artists will be able to participate in a self-tailored residency program or enjoy any of our well rounded itinerary of workshops. Additionally, Annex:art will be able to provide exhibition opportunities at Gallery 66 located in the historic Acoma Curio Shop on old Route 66. This venue which is on the national registry of historic place has been displaying artists works since 1916. The space has now become part of Annex:art´s artist compound. This venue will provide artists the opportunity to organize self-curated exhibitions as well as the chance to apply for various group exhibitions throughout the gallery year.

In addition to our facilities in New Mexico, Annexart also offers self-directed artist residencies in France and Germany. Please visit our website ( for further information about these opportunities.
