Studio Faire

General information

Brief description of organisation

Scottish couple, Colin Usher and Julia Douglas, moved into this stunning mansion house in the centre of the vibrant market town of Nérac in South West France, in 2017 to set up a contemporary arts space. Though they are still renovating the property, it is fast becoming a centre for artistic development, providing funded and self-funded residencies, photographic courses and cultural events for all types of creative practitioner.

Nérac sits to the south of the Lot-et-Garonne, just over the border of the Gers, on the northern edge of Gascony. Here you will find the ‘real’ unspoilt France. Medieval Villages are surrounded by lush green rolling hills that lead your eye to the horizon via sunflower fields, orchards and vines. The perfect place to slow down and focus.

This property is called Studio Faire:
Studio – (noun) a room where an artist, photographer, sculptor, etc. works.
Faire – (transitive verb) to make or to do
Whatever you want to make…do it in France at Studio Faire.
Tout ce que vous voulez faire…faire en France au Studio Faire.

How to reach

By train

Agen SNCF station is 25 minutes away from Nérac.

Tideo buses run to Nerac.

By plane

Agen airport is connected 3 times a day to Paris Orly Airport by HOP! Airline and is 25 minutes away from Nérac.

Other nearby airports are Bordeaux, Bergerac and Toulouse.

By car

Coming from Bordeaux, take the A62, exit 6, then you will drive through Buzet, Vianne, Lavardac and reach Nérac.

Coming from Toulouse, take the A62 exit 7, then follow the directions to Nérac.

Coming from Paris, we recommend you drive through Cahors rather than Bordeaux. The mileage and timing are the same but the tolls are around a 1/3 of the cost!
From Cahors there are 2 options:
1: Leave the motorway and drive towards Agen on easy local rural roads.
2: Keep on the motorway and you will reach Agen via Montauban. Same timing, more mileage, more tolls and less charming roads.
