Brief description of organisation

PADA is an artist-led, not for profit, arts organisation based in Barreiro in Lisbon’s South Bay. Set in an industrial park with history dating back to 1885, PADA offer artists time and space to develop their practice through the exploration of technique and process. Bringing together like minded artists with the aim of developing a creative hub for the exchange of knowledge and skills in the fabrication and execution of art.
The Residency Programme runs alongside our long term studios, creating an environment conducive to dialogue, collaboration and sharing of knowledge between the two programmes. Participating artists are expected to engage with the overall programme objectives, to contribute to a collective enterprise, and be open to work with others.
PADA also run a gallery program exhibiting international artists and host events and exhibitions throughout the year.

Brief description of residency program

PADA Residency programme offers artists and curators the opportunity to live and work in Lisbon’s South Bay for a period of 2-8 weeks.

The programme is designed for artists and curators wishing to immerse themselves in their work and/or research. We provide them with the space to explore their practices and to develop a project while receiving feedback and support.

Located within an Industrial park with history dating back to 1885, artists will be surrounded by history as well as contemporary craftsmen providing inspiration, material knowledge and the resources for experimentation and production. PADA’s facilities reinforce this with large studios and technical support to encourage and facilitate ambitious work.

40m2 studio: This includes all facilities at PADA and within Baia do Tejo Industrial Park.
Workshops: PADA boasts an excellent workshop as well as connections to more specialist fabricators. Technical support is available on request.
Accommodation: A private double bedroom in a refurbished workers cottage. 5 minute walk from studios.
Exhibition: Artists will have the opportunity to work towards a show at PADA gallery or in one of the satellite locations in the Industrial Park.
Network: The opportunity to propose workshops and talks as well as arrange meetings with local curators and gallerists.
Visits: Tours of museums, galleries and art studios in Lisbon.
