Special Offer to Emerging Writers

Emerging Writer´s Residencies, Spring in NZ

Are you an emerging writer who would appreciate the opportunity to tuck yourself into a writer's studio with a view over a Spring woodland garden in NZ? Working at a massive desk and looking out to established trees coming back to life--sound like you? Occasionally browsing and borrowing books that inspire you and trigger new possibilities from a loft library of over 2000 books--sound good?

To help support emerging writers, NZ Pacific Studio is offering it's cosy and inspirational writer's studio over Spring (September and October), at an attractive self-funded rate. Our smallest live/work studio with a single bed, it's ideal for immersing yourself in a writing project for a week, or few weeks, as best suits you.

Just e-mail us with information about yourself and a brief description of what you would like to work on at NZ Pacific Studio, along with excerpts of, or links to, your work, and we will respond quickly.

At the historic Kaiparoro (Normandell) House in Mount Bruce, north of Masterton in the Wairarapa, our residency centre provides opportunities for the connection of national and international creative practitioners, along with our local communities.

Of note are the following: • A lovingly restored historic house as a centre to our programme. • Varied and dramatic landscape in the region. • Pukaha Wildlife Sanctuary and native forest reserve (with walks) just down the road: complimentary entry provided. • Our extensive woodland gardens and garden-facing rooms. • Our large stand-alone Visual Artist's Studio. • Our Saiko Writer's Studio. • A large loft area and extensive library, also available for sleeping/working, suited not only to writers, but also offering a modest rehearsal space to solo dancers/choreographers, performers etc. • Our self-contained Norwegian-style studio cottage complete with its own studio and firebox, for those who want more quiet time. • Live-in house management and support, and nearby caretakers. • Facilitation of meaningful community connections, by advance arrangement.

We are offering the Saiko Writer's Studio to an emerging writer, or two, for the cost of $NZ240 a week, including modest local transportation. Writers are responsible for their own travel, but pick-up and drop-off in Masterton or Palmerston North is complimentary. Writers also provide their own food while in residence.

We accept applications on an ongoing basis, from now through to 11 October 2015
