Sirius Arts Centre 2016 Artist-in-Residence-Programme

Sirius Arts Centre is now accepting proposals for projects for its 2016 Residency Programme

Sirius Arts Centre has been developing its Artist in Residence programme since 1994. The programme receives some funding from the Arts Council and Cork County Council and is well recognised internationally. The programme is designed to offer artists the opportunity to research and develop their practices and to engage in dialogue with Sirius, other organisations in Cork and the surrounding community.

Residents stay in a beautiful, four-bedroomed basement apartment in the Sirius Arts Centre’s building, located in the centre of Cobh, twenty minutes by train from Cork City. The apartment has its own kitchen and work area, within walking distance of transportation and Cobh town centre. The Artist in Residence programme at Sirius provides residential and some work space to visual artists, either individuals or groups. Sirius’s curatorial panel meets once a year to book residencies and exhibitions for the following year.

Artists are chosen for residencies in one of two ways:

1. Invitation to submit by curatorial panel.
Artists from Ireland and abroad are invited by the curatorial panel to submit for residencies, with a view to developing projects or publications in Cobh and Cork County.

2. By open submission.
Artists may submit an application independently to be considered for a residency at Sirius.
