Description of residency program
This cultural residency program offers a rare opportunity of total immersion into real rural Thai life with the comfort and convenience of a self-contained residence with shared facilities and a support network in place. Located 4 hours North-East of Bangkok, our residency program offers the time and space for creative individuals to research and/or produce work, recalibrate perspectives and invigorate creative energy. With flexible options for duration, timing, fees and the facilities to cater for partners and children, Sam Rit Residency provides the perfect residency for those that need to work around a busy creative life.

Disciplines, work equipment and assistance
Sam Rit Residency is inviting artists of all mediums, arts managers and arts workers, academics of all disciplines, researchers and students to experience a life-changing opportunity in the rural Thai rice farming village of Sam Rit.

Accommodation and studio/ workspace
Sam Rit Residency offers options for length of stay around work commitments and enough accommodation for partners and children. We provide private bed-sitter accommodation for up to 7 residents at a time or a family with a shared kitchen, laundry and studio space facilities.

Fees and support
Our residency is operated on a fee-for service model, with 3 separate packages available to choose from depending whether you prefer to be an Independent Resident, Semi-Supported or Fully Supported. Each package contains a specific level of services available to the resident, each at a different cost. As Sam Rit Residency is without philanthropic or government funding, we are unable to fund artists to attend the program. We have however subsidised costs to keep the program as accessible as possible.

Expectations towards the artist
Residents are expected to engage with the local community througb daily interactions and invitations to festivals and events. There is no set production outcome and artists retain ownership of all worked produced at the residency.
