Pillars and Pollinators

Artists as pillars of light bringing heaven to earth and as pollinators, spreading creativity.

Description of residency program
The theme “Pillars and Pollinators” represents the ideas of artists as pillars of light bringing heaven to earth and as pollinators, spreading creativity and enriching the new cultural paradigm of non-dual conscious and gender fluid society. Please submit motivation for residency (explain why you may benefit from this locale and project), possible physical outcome (tangible forms), length-of-stay, background (self-taught artists welcome) and photos of recent works. Send a description of how you plan to contribute either in building/construction or art. We encourage interdisciplinary, cross-boundary proposals. We encourage seriously fun artisans rather than “temporary retreat” or “social superficially inclined” for this program. The center provides as best as possible a modest and peaceful location for maximum potential and opportunity to artists interested in making new discoveries and breakthroughs. Artists who are self-motivated, yet enjoy collaboration, find comfort in solitude with moments of wonderful social interaction, can improvise, instigate, and honor all that is around them in a state of wonder and curiosity are welcome. ***Artists native to Costa Rica and Central America are encouraged to apply.

Expectations towards the Artist
We expect you to behave maturely and responsibly. Actual outcome of your work here is up to you, however if we agree in the Hummingbird Scholarship award that you leave a piece of art or teach a workshop then it will be expected. In general, we want to provide you with a place to enhance your art out of your normal realm. We will photograph or list your works on our webpage and we can determine if an exhibition is possible here locally or in the capital of San Jose. If agreed upon during the application process, we hope you can mentor a small group of local youth for one day.
