Mudhouse Residency Accepting Applications for June/July 2018

The Mudhouse Residency in Crete is accepting applications for its June/ July 2018 residency sessions

The Mudhouse Residency, in the rural mountain village of Agios Ioannis, Crete, is now accepting applications for June/ July 2018 summer residency sessions. Only applications submitted through our website will be considered. The next deadline for applications is January 15, 2018.
Session 1 takes place June 18- July 2, and Session 2 takes place July 9- July 23. The Mudhouse offers two types of residencies; the Studio Residency, $2200 USD, includes group meals, lodging and shared studio workspace for the entire 2 week duration and the Independent Residency, $1800 USD, includes group meals and lodging, without the studio component.  Both Residencies provide the artist the opportunity to present an artist-led talk or reading and participate in the closing exhibition.
The Mudhouse Residency is designed to provide a cultural immersion: living, working and dining in the mountain village of Agios Ioannis. The residency is inclusive to a number of artistic disciplines, with the facilities to accommodate studio artists, photographers, writers, choreographers and composers.  Meals are served family style and group trips have been organized to tour the ancient Minoan ruins at Mochlos, visit the Florentine monastery at Toplou, swim in the blue green waters of the Libyan sea and hike across the Thripti mountain range. At the end of each session an exhibition is mounted at the Agios Ioannis Cultural Center, with a corresponding reception in which the residents of the village and surrounding villages are invited to celebrate with the artists.
