HIELO A.I.R. Open Call 2018

Apply to live and develop your work in the Caribbean.

Description of residency program
HIELO’s studio residency program provides local and international thinkers — artists, curators, writers, performers, academics, and cultural managers the opportunity to live and work in Miramar in Santurce, Puerto Rico for a period of 1-3 months while developing individual projects and immersing themselves in the island’s creative sphere. All resident creatives are required to engage the local community in some way. This can be in a series of open-to-the-public workshops, talks, studio visits, screenings or public exhibitions. We are happy to work with you to try and develop the right programming for your practice.

Located in the cultural center of Miramar and only a short distance from the Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport, HIELO is at the heart of Santurce’s bustling art and cultural scene. The studio is walking distance from the beach, restaurants, bars, cinema, grocery store, galleries, museums, and artist studios. The dynamic community of Calle Cerra is a short walk away and the district of Rio Piedras and Calle Loiza’s many galleries, museums, cafes, and bars are only a 10- to 20-minute drive away.
