Call for Applications for DECONSTRUKT Residency Sept/Oct

Live, work and engage with the local community of Red Hook, Brooklyn at our studio DE-CONSTRUKT.

We invite artists, photographers, musicians, filmmakers, writers, curators, and researchers to apply for 2018 DE-CONSTRUKT residency opportunities. We provide a space to develop new ideas, create temporal work and encouragement to form new networks. For reference visit our projects featured on our website.

All participants must either make a public event in Red Hook or work with the neighborhood directly. We will work with each resident to organize their event and will publicize it in our newsletter, FacebookInstagramTwitter and our website.
Artists are required to stay at least 2 weeks but are encouraged to stay for 1 month.
Residency fee for two weeks is $625 for a private bedroom with a large studio (1 person) or $500 for a private bedroom. Residency fee must be paid in full before arrival. Artists are responsible for all expenses including supplies and travel. Artists can request work exchange for partial coverage of residency fee, only if available.

We provide artists with a place to live, work and engage with other artists and the local community of Red Hook. Our 2600 sq. the loft is equipped with a photography darkroom, wet sink, modern kitchen, and lots of natural light. It also includes accessible on-street parking, access to our large studio for public events and for working (when available) and a fully furnished bedroom.
Our residency program started in 2013. We have hosted artists from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Iceland, Germany, England, Israel, Italy, Canada, Ireland, and Palestine. Work included painting, music, video, public interventions, installations, performances, workshops, film screenings. We also invite curators, researchers, and writers to apply. Please see our website for reference of past projects.

DE-CONSTRUKT [projekts] develops projects with local and international artists that support the cross-pollination of ideas and experimentation among culturally diverse artists and audiences. Artists have the opportunity to produce new works individually or collaboratively, with a focus on experimentation.
We provide space to create temporary work and encourages the formation of new networks. Our interest is in the process rather than final outcomes. We serve to support new ideas and new ways of expression to share with the local community at large and abroad.
