Artists in an Olivegarden

Application-call for 2019.

Artists in an Olivegarden is an independent, not-for-profit, artist run space. It is nestled in a rural area just 15 bicycle minutes away from the Center of Arles. It offers an idyllic and quiet retreat in an old, charming and recently renovated farmhouse. 

The self directed residencies are designed for international professional working artists who are looking to produce new work, to write, and/or conduct arts-research. It will give artists time, space, freedom and inspiration to explore their ideas in a quiet neighborhood inside a beautiful olive garden in midst of a kingdom of birds. The residencies run from April-June and September-November. 

The Artists in an Olivegarden program provides self-contained accommodation for a self-directed residence and is open to professional writers, photographers, visual artists, researchers, conceptual- video- and media-artists. 

The ideal residents are self-motivated, open, independent, tolerant, flexible and care for their environment and for others. All residents are encouraged to network, and to expose themselves to the cultural and historical background of Arles and to exchange ideas. The artists are expected to create work during their residency time.

The Residency includes
2     Studios units with Mezzanine floors for work/living and shared bathroom
1     Studio unit: Bedroom, private bathroom and Studio Brute (for painters)

Huge fully fitted community kitchen, separate toilets and a 4000 m2 olive garden to work, sit or chill. Each studio has a kingsize bed and comes with linen and bathtowels. 

Fees and support
The fee for the program ranges from 440 Euro to 500 Euro per Studio. The fee is used to maintain the place, garden and all the utilities.  The residency is non profit. The residency is self-catering. Additional costs: Travels, daily expenses, Visa and everything else is payed by the artist. Bicycles can be let out at a cost at the residency.

How to Apply 
Please email Claudia Froelich for the application form at artsatrium@gmail.com until 1st. of December 2018.  Applications without this form and the requested material will not be considered. 

Deadline for the completed applications 2019 is December 10th. 2018. Applicants will be informed till Mid-January 2019 if their desired space can be provided. If your desired space is not available, but your plan promising, we will put you on a waiting list.
