EDITION/Basel Summer Session 2

Printmaking, Collaboration & Exhibition in Basel, Switzerland.

INTAGLIO - RELIEF - LITHOGRAPHY - LETTERPRESS

12 days of printmaking in Basel, Switzerland

Artists working in printmaking are invited to participate in 2 sessions at the Druckwerk Printmaking Studio in central Basel, Switzerland. The studio is well-equipped with etching, litho, and letterpress machines, as well as a wide selection of paper, linoleum, and other materials for purchase during the session. Assistance is available in the workshop for the first 3 days of each program, but it is expected that the participants will have some experience with printmaking.

Each program of 10 artists will be shown in exhibitions in one of two spaces--the Basel Papiermühle Museum or Kaskadenkondensator Space for Contemporary Art in Basel.

Exhibition project themes are chosen collaboratively, and interpreted individually or collectively by participants during their time in the workshop.

Session dates are 3 - 14 July and 17 - 28 July, 2019.

Session cost is CHF 480,- and includes basic materials (ink, tarlatan, rags). Other materials are available for purchase on an as-needed basis.

Housing is available on-site, one floor up from the workshop, and 24-hour access is available for both. In the apartment there are beds for up to 8 people in a shared space, one private room, a full kitchen, laundry, table, living room area, and large outdoor terrace. Housing cost is CHF 450,- for the entire period.

The studio and apartment are located 2 blocks from the Rhine river, which runs through the center of Basel and is clean enough to swim in.

Assistance for one artist based on financial need is available in each session. Please inquire when you apply. Past artists have joined the sessions from Cuba, Burkina Faso, and Armenia.

To apply, please send either a link to your website or a portfolio of at least 5 print works (max size 1000 pixels on the longest side), along with a CV and artist statement, to editionbasel@gmail.com by our Feb 1 deadline.
