Situated in the market town of Nérac, in the stunning Lot-et-Garonne region, on the northern edge of Gascony, here you will find the ‘real’ unspoilt France. Medieval Villages are surrounded by green rolling hills that lead your eye to the horizon via fruit orchards and vines. The perfect place to slow down and focus.

Duration of residency
4 weeks

Available Dates
29 August - 26 September 2019

Disciplines and assistance
This residency is open to all international practitioners, working in any creative discipline, who would benefit from a period of uninterrupted time to focus on developing their work.

Your hosts have many skills between them. Colin Usher is a Photographer and Digital Media expert and Julia Douglas a Mixed Media Artist (specialising in Textiles) and Web Designer. They are also well connected in the area and willing to share their knowledge and contacts with you during your stay. There will most likely be another resident at Studio Faire during your stay with whom you can share information and ask for feedback.

A professional photoshoot of you and your work is also included.

Studio / workspace
The ‘Garage’ studio is perfect for creating all types of works of art. It is situated between the kitchen and the resident's bedrooms. It has a large North facing double door so good natural light during the day and no direct sunshine, so not dazzling or too hot. There is a blank white wall which is 238cm wide and the centre of the room has a concrete floor, which is suitable for laying out larger works. It’s about 3m wide and nearly 8m long.

The 'Living Room' studio is situated on the ground floor. It’s a large room (575 x 517cm) and has the most stunning marble fireplace and polished wooden floor. It has two windows onto the front of the house and one glass door out onto the garden, so plenty of natural light from the North and East. There are shutters on the windows and door, so if you want to shut out the world, this is easily achieved! The studio is not attached to a neighbouring property, so noise pollution is not an issue (from either the resident or neighbour).

Residents live and work in the house, studios and gardens of Studio Faire. Rooms and studios are spacious and mature gardens offer private, shaded space for work and play. Accomodation is provided on a self-catering basis.
This place is special!

This 4 week self-directed residency is a self-funded residency for 1 person or 2 people sharing a double room and studio. Fees include a private double bedroom and studio, plus shared shower room with toilet, kitchen, dining room and gardens. A professional photoshoot is also included.

4 weeks for 1 person is 960 € or for 2 sharing is 1,260 €

Expectations towards the artist
As this is a self-funded residency, Studio Faire has no expectations towards the artist(s) and hope that this supportive environment, without the pressure to produce, will aid creativity, experimentation and the development of new ideas.

Studio Faire offers all creative practitioners a change of pace and the space to create.
