Deadline: Open call

One Off Makery residencies

Open call to artists of all persuasions to spend up to 3 weeks in the forested hills of NSW.

One Off Makery is located in the Pappinbarra Valley, in the forested hills of NSW Australia. There are two self-contained cabins and a large workshop, which operates as a construction space for puppets and performance objects for most of the year. Artists, makers, writers, musicians, performers and scientists are invited to stay for a period of between 1 and 3 weeks, with their own cabin and access to shared space. A small fee of $25 to $30 per night helps to cover maintenance costs. We will endeavour to schedule simultaneous residencies to facilitate creative exchange.

We can help residents to source materials and get in touch with local schools and communities for any projects or showings, and will arrange transport to and from airports/train stations and towns for shopping trips etc. Some meals may be shared but cooking facilities are provided in the cabins so residents can make their own meals.

Applicants can choose from either:

a) The Kevin, a big converted caravan with double and single bed, wood stove, kitchen, shared toilet, tiny shower and large verandah, or
b) The Crate, a single-room converted shipping container with double bed, kitchen, verandah, outdoor shower/bath and long drop toilet.

Applicants should outline what they intend to work on but there is no expectation of an outcome. To apply, send an email briefly describing:

- yourself and your practice
- the living and working spaces you require (see website for cabin details)
- the project you intend to work on
- your preferred dates.

Residents should expect peace and silence, plenty of space, lots of wildlife, a busy workshop, assistance if needed, and a degree of roughing it.
