Disciplines, work equipment and assistance
RUC is an international artist residency, welcoming artists, musicians and writers from all over the world. It
believes in supporting artists’ development through reconnecting with nature and with the valley's ancient traditions. Virgilio Patarini Arte Contemporanea is an independent association made by artists for artists. Its aim is to allow emerging talents to propose their work in special locations, with a focus on quality and originality.

WHERE WE ARE
Vi.P. Gallery and RUC are located in the Italian Alps, in Lombardy, in the Valcamonica valley. Milan is 1 hour and 30 minutes away by car or public transport. The international airport of Milan Orio al Serio can be reached in 40 minutes. Because of the uniqueness of its prehistoric engravings carved in the rocks, Valcamonica was the first Italian site to be listed among UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1979. On the southern side, the valley flows into the beautiful lake Iseo where the breathtaking fishing island Montisola lies, and on the northern side it is topped by the largest glacier of the Italian Alps, the Adamello National Park. RUC is located very near to prominent Roman archaeological sites, and the nearest villages count an ancient Roman open air theatre and the ruins of a temple dedicated to the goddess Minerva.

Accommodation
RUC is an estate of 8 hectares (around 20 acres) on the hills, ringed by higher mountains, with a wide meadow and wooded area, a vegetable garden, several fruit trees, and vineyards that produce very refined wines with innovative methods. On this property there are 3 country houses creating a tiny rural community, and 2 villas where artists are hosted, Villa Amati, and Casetta. Headquarters are located at Villa Amati, an early 19thcentury house that offers wide and bright rooms, and studios in a unique set of inspirational common spaces, and a newly restored dependance called the Casetta, a country house with comfort and charme.

Studio/ workspace
On the top floor of Villa Amati there are 3 studios that measure 14 x 10 feet each. Two rooms in the Casetta can be set as studio spaces upon request. Our basic setting for each artist is 1 big table, 1 chair, 1 lamp. Easel upon request. We set gazebo and tables to work open air if requested. Both Villa Amati entrance hall and dining room can be set as meeting rooms in order to accommodate groups or to organize gatherings, presentations, and events between residents. Both the entrance hall and the dining room go directly out on gardens that are at disposal of the residents as an open air spaces available for working, discussing and relaxing.
