Visual artists from any nationality to get inspiration from Icelandic nature and culture!

Artak350 Residency is an Artist in Residence Program located in Grundarfjordur, Snaefellsnes Peninsula, Iceland.

Founded in 2019 by Artak.

Description of residency program
We aim to stimulate creativity through interaction with the local environment, and seek to foster relations between participants and the local community.  We work in cooperation with the local schools and local artists. We give our artists the opportunity to breath in the spectacular view and let Icelandic nature be an inspiration for their art works. Open sea water and big stunning mountains, with the charm of a small fishing village in Iceland.  Artak350 Residency is a place for artistic research, art production, meetings, workshops, art courses and exhibitions. Meet strangers and make friends.

Disciplines, work equipment and assistance
We can accommodate one or two artists at the time, in a private apartment with a studio space, fully equipped kitchen & bathroom 
Basic equipment is available in the studio. Every artist brings their own materials, there is no shop with art supplies in the area. It´s possible to ship your art supplies via post before arriving.

Accommodation
We offer artists in residence the possibility to live in the studio: single bright studio which is provided with wifi,  work desks, shelves, closet, two single beds.

Studio/ workspace
We are located in the center of the village, close to the shops, restaurants and coffeehouses.  Few steps away from the harbor, where you can monitor the boats come in after their fishing tours.  In the town,  you can enjoy a beautiful ocean view, and  look at the  mountain  Kirkjufell across the sea water (the most photographed mountain in Iceland) and breath in the  stunning view of the fjord.  Grundarfjord  is a small town with an easy access to open nature.

Fees and support
Fees paid by the Artist:
Every artist pays a fee:

One month: 700 EUR – additional 350 EUR for second artist/partner.

Included is:

The studio space and living area: 68m2
Access to a washer machine. bedlinens/towels
Electricity, heating and water. WIFI.
Final Event (presentation and/or exhibition at the studio)
Publicity on the Web.

Note: Once your application has been approved, your place will be secured on receipt of full payment.

NOT included: Travel, transport, visa, daily living expenses, medical insurance and production.

Unfortunately, we don’t offer any grants but we offer a formal letter of invitation for applications, to seek grants elsewhere.

Expectations towards the artist
The artists are expected to give a presentation and/or exhibit their work at the studio or the visitor center.  This takes place at the last weekend of their stay.

Selection process
Residents will be selected by the Artak350 comity, based on the quality of their work, commitment to their practice, and ability to interact positively with the community at large. All applicants will be contacted by email A.S.A.P. With a positive or a negative answer.
If accepted, you have one week to confirm your participation, with in14 days and  pay a  deposit of 200 EUR, to guaranty your place.  Full payment needs to be transferred four months prior to your stay. / The deposit is refundable in case of cancelation within 4 months notice prior to arrival date.
