Icelandic Textile Residency Scholarships 2019

Fully funded 2-month residency scholarships in Iceland for Nordic / Baltic based textile artists.

In 2019, the Textile Center residency in Blönduós, Iceland, will award two textile artists based in Nordic / Baltic countries with 2-month residential scholarships in 2019 (artists chose the two months best suited for them, September - October, October - November or November - December). This opportunity came via Nordic Culture Point.

The Textile Center residency seeks to promote an atmosphere of creativity, experimentation and reflection for artists and scholars working inside the textile field. We accept submissions from emerging, mid-career, and senior level artists and scholars all year round.

The residency is situated in a historic building and former Women’s College in Blönduós known as Kvennaskólinn, and can accommodate 8 - 10 artists every month. Since it first opened in 2013, the Textile Center residency has hosted over 250 textile artists and scholars from all around the world.

Scholarship packages include travel to and from Iceland, accommodation at the Textile Center residency  as well as a workshop grant and 1500 Euro work stipend.

Applicants must be working directly with textile/fibre arts, have a professional arts CV, be based in a Nordic country (Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Faroe Islands, Greenland) or Baltic state (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) and attend with a textile based process or project. Applications concerned with textile innovation, public engagement, and exhibition plans will be highly regarded.
