Vanha Paukku Artist Residency

Artists from all disciplines are welcome to stay and work in Vanha Paukku artist residency.

The Vanha Paukku Artist Residency is located in the unique surroundings of the Cultural Centre Vanha Paukku in Lapua, Western Finland. The Cultural Centre is a home for museums, art galleries, art school, community school, music institute, town library and several businesses. Our Cultural Centre is a unique and creative environment to create, meet people and to live and work.

Our residency includes two apartments located about 500 meters from the Cultural Centre:

Apartment one has a private bedroom, kitchen and living room with an extra bed. This apartment also has a washing machine.
Apartment two has a private bedroom, kitchen and a sauna.
Both apartments have showers and toilets.

The workspace is located at Vanha Paukku Creative Community next to the Cultural Centre Vanha Paukku. The Creative Community has two floors with over 200 square meters of work space for artists and creative people. Artists have 24 hour access to the workspace.

We also provide access to a dark room, a film scanner and a computer for the artists to use.

The fee for one month is 400 €'s / artist/ month. If two artists are willing to share one apartment the cost is 600 €'s / two artists/ month. Artists also must self-fund travel, equipment, supplies and food. We do not offer stipends or other economical support.

Expectations towards the artist
Vanha Paukku Artist Residency artists are required to deliver a public presentation of their practice. The presentation can be delivered in the form of a talk/workshop/event/screening etc.

Duration of residency
We offer different lengths of residencies from one week up to three months. Artists willing to stay for one month or longer are our priority.

Application information
Applicants must apply by email with an open application. The applicants must submit an artist bio, resume, proposal and the preferred time for their residency as well as samples of their work.

Residents are selected by our committee. All applicants will be informed personally.
