Mudhouse Residency accepting applications for 2019 Summer programs

Mudhouse Residency is accepting applications for both of its Summer 2019 Residency programs.

Description of residency program
The Mudhouse Residency is designed to provide a cultural immersion: living, working and dining in the mountain village of Agios Ioannis.

Duration of residency
We will be holding two residency sessions in 2019; June 28 - July 12 and July 15 - July 29. Each residency session lasts two weeks, but artists have the opportunity to choose both sessions and stay for the full month.

Disciplines, work equipment and assistance
The residency is inclusive to a number of artistic disciplines, with the facilities to accommodate studio artists, photographers, writers, choreographers and composers.

Artists are accommodated in the guest homes of the village's international residents. Rooms are private, but kitchens and bathrooms are sometimes shared between artists depending on the housing. Meals are served family style and group trips have been organized to tour ancient Minoan ruins, visit a Florentine monastery, swim in the Libyan sea and hike the Thripti mountain range.

Studio/ workspace
The Studio Residency is designed for professional artists with an established studio practice seeking the time and space to realize an individual project. We are able to accept one musician and one dancer/ performer/ choreographer for each residency session. The Independent Residency provides the time and structure to focus on a non-studio based project, be it a novel, screenplay, video, or photographic series.

The Studio Residency includes 24 hr access to a spacious studio facility, practice space with athletic flooring, or access to the Music house grand piano, depending on the artist's discipline. Authors find the village is abundant in charming gardens and writing nooks. Artists are invited to present a slideshow lecture or reading on their work and participate in a closing exhibition.

Fees and support
The cost of the Residency program is €2100. The Residency fee includes the artist's accommodations and artist's workspace for the duration of the Residency, as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner each day within the village. We are accepting 14 artists for each session.

Expectations towards the artist
Artists are warmly invited to present an artist's talk within the duration of the Residency and participate in the Residency's closing Exhibition. The Mudhouse is also pleased to host a reading, screening or viewing of works in progress as desired.
