Brief description of organisation

The Bogong Centre for Sound Culture (B–CSC) is an independent arts initiative located in Bogong Village. The centre provides access and opportunity for artists to respond to the environmental, social and cultural forces underpinning the Victorian Alpine region and its attendant community.

Brief description of residency program

The B–CSC Residency program provides artists opportunities to creatively engage with Australia’s Alpine National Park a region renowned for its remoteness, ecology and intemperate climate. This wilderness area is also the site of complex industrial and commercial enterprises including alpine resorts and hydroelectric power schemes. The B–CSC Residency provides time and space for artists to consider and develop their practice by responding to this unique environment and its attendant complexities.

The B–CSC Residency accepts applications from innovative artists working in:

B–CSC Workspace

The B–CSC has a small office with desk and printer for artist’s use.

Additionally artists are able to work in the large multi function area comprising:

Location

B–CSC Residency is located in Bogong Village. The village is situated in the foothills of Victoria’s Alpine National Park, between Mt Beauty and Falls Creek. It takes approximately 4.5 hours to get there by car from Melbourne.

Information

The B–CSC Residency runs 35 weeks a year from the first Monday in October through to the last Sunday in May. Residencies range in duration from two to four weeks. They commence on a Monday and conclude on a Sunday.

Accommodation is provided at no cost to the artist. However artists must cover their living expenses and transport costs. Please note there is no public transport between Mt Beauty and Bogong Village. If artists wish to explore beyond Bogong Village they must have a car.

The B–CSC accepts applications throughout the year.
