TCG Nordica is an international art gallery and culture centre situated in the heart of the artist community at Chuang Ku/LOFT, Kunming. Believing in community empowerment, we facilitate the cultural exchange of indigenous peoples from whatever background and status, and cooperate with a number of artists and organisations to raise the awareness of social issues such as HIV/AIDS. As a crossroads where East and West meets, TCG Nordica desires to facilitate multicultural understanding and exchange. Through art exhibitions, poetry festivals, musical concerts, workshops and unique culture activities, new opportunities are created for people to learn more about themselves and others in the spirit of friendship, openness, respect and mutuality.
TCG Nordica has existed since April 2000. Our Vision is: “Stimulating reflection on Human Worth as expressed in various Art Forms.” It has quickly become one of Kunmings foremost galleries and a popular meeting-point for the city’s residents, particularly artists, intellectuals and students.

TCG Nordica’s Artist in Residence Programme is open for international artists to apply. We provide a rich cross cultural environment for the Artist in Residence to experience life in a different culture with opportunities to cooperate and dialogue with other international artists and create something new. We hope that this exposure gives the artist new understanding and inspiration.

1-12 months
We advise to apply for a tourist visa (visit up to three months) in the country of the applicant if he/she stays longer than three months then we show them how to get a new visa. (A trip to Hong Kong or Macao is what most of the people do)

TCG Nordica does not currently provide grants to artists. We will try our best to help you to connect with local artists and Arts University during your stay! If your application is fits with the University education program, you will be paid for the lectures or events related with the program.

There is the possibility of having an Open Studio Show in the artist-in-residence Studio during or by the end of the Artist Residency. Material and mailing back of the artist’s work, invitations design, printing and opening reception of the Open studio show are at the artist's own expense.
TCG Nordica will help artist with promotion of the event.

The AIR program fee for participating in the AIR program from abroad is 3000 CNY and includes the previously mentioned services 1-8. Other facilities/services are charged separately.

TCG Nordica charges 500 CNY non-returnable administration fee with application.

The UP-Gallery rent is 1000 CNY (Other possible costs connected to the exhibition is also paid by the artist.)

Applications for AIR program with a 500 CNY non-returnable administration fee should be sent to the Gallery Curator at TCG Nordica 6-12 months prior to the applied residence dates together with the artist’s C.V. and a CD-Rom including samples of art work. Sample of works and CV could also be sent via email. (Gallery Curator:luofei@tcgnordica.com).

Acceptance email/letter is sent to selected artists. Cancellation is accepted 3 months prior to the proposed Artist in Residence dates. Later cancellations without a penalty fee are accepted due to grave reasons.

The applicants are selected by gallery term within 3 months.

Presentations are strongly encouraged and can be arranged at TCG Nordica or local Art Universities. Possibility of Open Studio during or by the end of the residency. Exhibitions can be applied for at TCG Nordica's UP-Gallery.

TCG Nordica owns guest flats which are situated in different parts of city. Each flat has four bed rooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a big living room.
