Short chronicle

Atelier de la Rose was founded in 1991 by artist, Ed Herring, and art historian, Sally Gaucheron.

It is situated in the heart of a medieval hilltop village in S.W. France (in the Lot or Quercy).

We are unique in providing a personal and flexible service to an international clientele.

Applicants are responsible for seeking fincancial support for a residency.

Allowance granted to artists

We aim to keep our prices as low as possible and offer a special package for artists and writers. Companions are welcome and can stay for very little extra cost (see tariff page on website www.french-rose.com).

Type and size of studios

Stone-built studio with floor area of 7 X 5 metres; height is 2.5 metres. Daylight illumination is by 3 sets of French windows.

Easels, trestles, drawing boards, folding chairs, sketching stools and slide projection facilities are provided.

Access to terrace and garden.

Accomodation

Bed and breakfast accommodation next to studio. Other meals available on request.
