12-03-10 14:16
Age: 174 days

Where: Skagaströnd, Iceland

When: 2010

Deadline: Open call

Nes artist residency now has open call all year around. The residency was started in the town of Skagaströnd in Northwestern Iceland March 2008 and received its first visitors in June of that year. The studios are in a former fishing plant that are now the workplace for artists of all media, both local and international. The living quarters are row-houses and apartment houses in five locations in close proximity of the studio

building. As of 2009 we have placed an open call on applications so you can apply all year around.

The residency is for whole months from 1-6 months of duration. The residence fee paid by the artist is from 400-800 €. Included in the fee is accommodation in a single or double room, with shared kitchen and bathing facilities (3-4 people in each apartment), a studio space, one set of bed linens and a towel. There are a number of rooms for single artists but also two private apartments for artists with families. In addition to the residency fee the artists-in-residence will have to cover the cost of travel, food, art supplies and shipping of artwork themselves.
