The RCAAQ is pleased to announce that the Res Artis Conference, Oeuvrer a une autre échelle dans les Amériques (Working on Another Level in the Americas) will be held from October 5th through 10th, 2010 at the Société des Arts Technologiques and the Monument National in Montreal. The day of October 8th will take place at the Méduse Coop in Quebec City. Thanks to a special partnership with the Artist-Run Centres and Collectives Conference (ARCA), the whole of the artist-run centre community in both Canada and Quebec have been invited to take part and exchange ideas with members of Res Artis.
Res Artis is the world’s preeminent network of artists’ residencies. It brings together more than 200 centres, organizations and associations, in over 50 countries, offering artists and writers the best possible conditions for creating their work. Res Artis was founded in 1993 with the aim of recognizing the needs specific to those arts centres that host artists and writers in residence, as well as establishing a network of diverse residency programmes around the world.
The 2010 Conference will examine the state of residencies in the Americas by taking stock of the experiences, local initiatives, and self-management models impacting methods of production and distribution, as well as the creative contexts for contemporary work. Our intention is to allow Conference participants to meet the most representative interlocutors from the Americas’ vast cultural scene and to understand the stakes and factors both distinguishing and uniting them. (See the PDF document below.)
A simultaneous translation service in French / English / Spanish will be available during the keynotes and some workshops.
The Conference is open only to members of Res Artis, ARCA and the RCAAQ. Registration will be available via the websites of those organizations from April 2010.
